But to make your visit even more memorable, we love sharing the hidden gems that are just a short drive away – and one of our favourite local days out has to be the Dorothy Clive Garden, located near Market Drayton, just 20 minutes from our front door.

We visited in May and were absolutely enchanted by what we found – a truly stunning garden that delights in every season.

Why Visit the Dorothy Clive Garden?

Tucked into the Shropshire countryside, this hillside garden is a botanical haven with something for everyone. In May, we were lucky enough to experience the famous Laburnum Arch in full bloom – a golden tunnel of cascading flowers that’s every bit as magical in person as it looks in photos.

We also loved the tranquil pond and woodland waterfall, perfect spots for a quiet moment or a scenic photo. The gardens are beautifully landscaped, with winding paths, herbaceous borders, and vibrant plantings that changes throughout the year, making it well worth a visit no matter the season.

There are plenty of benches and resting spots dotted around the gardens, so you can take your time and soak in the views. The garden is on a hill and there are some steps, so it may not be suitable for everyone, but the team there has thought of accessibility – they offer wheelchairs to borrow, making it more inclusive for guests who might need them.

There’s a lovely tea shop where you can grab a light lunch or a cuppa, a well-stocked plant and gift shop and clean, accessible toilets on site. Whether you’re a keen gardener, a photography enthusiast or simply someone who enjoys being surrounded by nature, it’s a perfect spot for a relaxing and inspiring visit.

You can also bring your dog too! Our Bichon, Teddy was made to feel very welcome by the staff!
